Father’s Day Gift Guide

Father’s Day is only five days away! Now that school is out for the summer I am sure most of you have put Father’s Day on the back burner thinking, “I will do that later this week”. Make your week easier and swing by the shop to grab him a great gift and have it gift wrapped here too! Recently a few of our customers have taken advantage of calling ahead to place orders. Simply call and tell Morgan what you want. She can take your payment over the phone and wrap it for you so when you swing by you can leave the kids in the car and just run inside to pick up. Could it be any easier!? Here are our favorite dad gifts for 2016: – Sunnylife Beach Sounds features a radio tuner, volume dial and bass control, but flip it open and you’ll find a 3.5mm jack to hook up your portable media player of choice! Great for the boat to keep your tunes playing and your phone free from the sand. – Brackish Bow Ties are handmade is South Carolina and since each feather is hand picked and each bow tie is hand made each one is unique. The most unique gift this year for spicing up his wardrobe are these bow ties and lapel pins! – For the traveling man… Carry On Cocktail Kit! – Letterpressed Coasters are perfect for his office or man cave. They made it onto Oprah’s top gifts and they made it onto our list too! Instead of the feminine coasters you keep around the house let him enjoy these instead. Plus, you won’t have to worry about rings left behind form drinks without coasters… win win! Swing by the shop to look around, call ahead to pick up, or shop with us online via House Account. Let us help you and happy early Father’s Day to all the dads out there!

Gathered Travels (Phoenix, AZ)

Monday morning, flat tire, no coffee. But it is good to be back in Wilmington! I am always grateful for the beautiful city that I call home but traveling sweetly reminds me how great it is to live here. On Wednesday morning I kissed my sleeping babies goodbye and headed off to Phoenix, Arizona with Morgan. One of our reps highly recommended that we take the time to head west and visit the 80.000 square foot gallery. He knows I have an appreciation for great original artwork. Although hesitant, simply because I did not know what to expect, I was pleasantly surprised. They put us up at the Arizona Biltmore, a living architectural masterpiece. The influence of America’s most heralded architect, Frank Lloyd Wright, is evident everywhere. As the consulting architect, Wright collaborated with a former student, Albert Chase McArthur to design the resort.   Frank Lloyd Wright is not the only famous name to be wrapped up in the hotel. It is renowned that the Catalina pool, built by the Wrigley’s, was Marilyn Monroe’s favorite pool. Also, every president from Herbert Hoover to George W. Bush has visited; including Ronald and Nancy Reagan to celebrate their honeymoon.  Rich in history, architecture, and design it was a wonderful place to stay for a few days! Wednesday was for flying and sitting by the pool. Thursday was for artwork and meeting other designers around the country. Friday was for coffee and flying again. Home again home again. Excited for some of the pieces I purchased to arrive at Gathered later this summer- expecting them mid- June. Overall it was a successful trip to relax, brainstorm ideas for Gathered’s future, search for great artwork for client’s homes, purchase great pieces for the store, and get inspired by Phoenix’s scene.

when it rains, look for rainbows

Often times you hear the phrase “when it rains it pours”. This is often true but it’s all about perspective. Love this new take on an old quote: Yesterday, it quite literally poured. The skies opened up early in the morning on our big install day for our Figure 8 client. The  whole team arrived to the studio with coffee in hand – no surprise! We had a quick pow-wow since I was under the weather Monday and therefore out of office. Of course, I get sick as soon as Gray heads out of town for 5 days. Wrapped up our team meeting with action plans in place only to notice that our storage room ceiling was leaking from all this rain! Problem quickly resolved with towels, landlord, and sealer. The day continued on and the install went swimmingly (pun intended). Rain: It poured the morning of our install and our storage room in the studio sprung a leak Rainbow: I work with great people that keep things rolling (even in the rain) After a many hands and hard work the home officially has furniture! This project was a complete renovation so it has been amazing to see the whole process. Paint, tile, wallpaper, floors, rugs, lights, furniture…. You name it we covered it! Install days are so rewarding. I am excited about having the project photographed later this month and will share those pictures soon! It is all about the perspective in which you look at your day. After the rain there is a rainbow.

Sneak Peaks

This week has been full of mini installs for quite a few clients. Some are finishing touches and some are just the beginning. It is thrilling to see a home come together and the 2D design come to life. What is even more rewarding is seeing the client’s face as their homes are transformed. Looking forward to having each of these projects photographed but, until then, take a sneak peak at what we are working on! #clientbeachroadnorth #clientparkave #clientarrowheaddrive
